Well Pump Installation

After years of prep, months of planning, and weeks of paperwork, we finally started actually working on the property. We put the pump in the well. Cory, working with Sequim Valley Pumps, installed a state-of-the-art Grundfos 26 gpm variable speed pump. We pumped cool water for about 45 minutes to clear it, then took samples to test. The biological tests will allow us to get our building permits approved.

Pictures taken during installation.

The submersible well pump is a 3" diameter state-of-the-art variable speed design that actually draws 2 amps less than the equivalent 4" standard design. It exhibits on-demand behavior and only needs a basketball sized expansion tank.

Here Cory is inserting the pump in the well after he has attached a 40+ foot pvc pipe to it. The other end attaches to a fitting near the top of the well head that also attaches to the pipe to the house.

Cory attached a hose temporarily to well pipe and powered the pump from his truck's generator. Soon water was flowing!

After the water ran clear enough, Cory ran some basic mineral and ph tests that showed the water was:

slightly acidic - 6.4ph
heavy on the iron - 5ppm
and sort of soft - 4 grains.

Cory was very professional and efficient. Hope the rest of the project goes as well.
